Britney Chilcott, a middle hitter from Stevensville, Mont., has signed to play volleyball for North Idaho College in 2012.
“Volleyball is my passion and I chose NIC because I’ve always loved this beautiful area and the college is close to home,” Chilcott said. “Every summer my family vacations here and I’ve been to a few summer camps at NIC. I was looking for a nationally ranked volleyball program and after I met the coaching staff and players here they made my decision easy. I believe I can contribute to the team and will continue to improve under Coach Kelly.”
Chilcott led all state conferences in both kills (301) and blocks (79) for the 2011 regular season, with more than twice the total kills and blocks of each second place finisher in her conference, finishing the year as an All-State first team selection and MVP. In 2010, she was and All-State second team selection and was named All-Conference three of her four years as a varsity player. She has played for the Montana Volleyball Academy National Team for the last two years. As a multisport athlete, she also played varsity all four years in basketball and track and has had interest from other colleges. She has a number of school records in track and participated in the state All-Conference Top 10 Tournament each year in 100 hurdles, 200-meter and javelin.
“Britney will be a great fit for this program and I see her contributing right away as we lost Janele Vogt, who Britney’s style of play reminds me of,” said NIC Head Volleyball Coach Kandice Kelly. “Britney is very athletic and dynamic and will have numerous opportunities after her career here at North Idaho College. She is exactly who we need to keep this program as a top contender in the nation. She is a great kid, has a very supportive family and plays for one of the best clubs in the Northwest. Once we get Britney up to our fast tempo, she is going to be unstoppable.”
