Tessa Sian, a 6-foot middle blocker from Huntley Project High School in Huntley, Mont., recently signed to play volleyball for North Idaho College next year.
“Tessa is a wonderful teammate, person, athlete and student,” said NIC Head Volleyball Coach Kandice Kelly. “She is an all-around great player and will be able to play multiple positions for us next year. I have also known Tessa and her family for a while and have known her high school head coach for a long time. She comes from a great volleyball program and a great coach so I am excited to bring her experience into the gym.”
Sian is a three-year letter winner, two-time second team All-Conference honoree and has played a role in her high school team’s three state championships. She is third on the school record in blocking with 55 blocks in one season and 10th on the school record list with 17 kills in a match. She hit .295 last season and had 1.9 blocks a game. In addition, she was also named to the All-Conference first team for basketball in 2012.
“I chose NIC because I have known Coach Kelly since I was little,” Sian said. “I know what a great athlete she is and what a great coach she is. I understand what kind of a person and athlete she can help me become. I’m excited to become a Cardinal and do whatever I can to help this highly ranked team. The girls at NIC are great. I felt an instant connection with them when I visited. The location of the college is awesome. I love the size of the school and the type of town that Coeur d’Alene is.”
