Two goal keepers and a defender have agreed to join the North Idaho College women’s soccer team for the fall of 2012.
“With these three players signed, the team is looking to have another good year in 2012,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Dan Hogan.
Alexandra Rodriguez is a goalie from San Jacinto, Calif., where she started all four years for San Jacinto High School. She also played volleyball as well as running track and cross country. Her soccer team was league champion in 2009 and 2010 and it made it to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State quarter-final game. Her senior season, Rodriguez was named League Defensive MVP, team captain and first team All-CIF.
“Alex brings good athleticism and a strong work ethic and will undoubtedly make the keeper position stronger,” Hogan said.
Whittni Mundel is a 5-foot-7 goalie from Mount Spokane High School in Mead, Wash. She was a varsity keeper for one of the strongest 3A programs in Washington for three years where her teams were league champions twice and regional champions once. Mundel is another strong athlete who also competes in softball as well as track and field.
“The addition of Whittni will make our goal keeping one of the strongest parts of our team next year,” Hogan said.
Kacey McConagha is a four-time letter winner as a defender from Flagstaff High School in Flagstaff, Ariz. She was All-League first team selection her senior season as the captain of her soccer team. Her team played in the state tournament all four of her years on the team, making it to the semi-finals her freshman year, the finals her sophomore year and winning it all as a junior.
“Kacey’s composure in back combined with her athleticism and skill will be a great addition to a defense that gave only 11 goals last year,” Hogan said.
