North Idaho College has coordinated one of the region’s most successful and popular annual fundraisers for 19 years. The draw is the really BIG prizes, including a $250,000 brand new home. But the true secret to the Really BIG Raffle’s continued success, even in a difficult economy, is the tremendous support from local businesses and community members, according to NIC Foundation Executive Director Rayelle Anderson.
“This year is no exception as the event has already received a record number of sponsors providing funding, materials and labor,” Anderson said. “This fundraiser would not be possible without the generous support of our business community as well as the community members who support the fundraiser each year through ticket purchases.”
Edge Home Roofing, a Coeur d’Alene-based company owned by Royce and Michele Driggs, stepped in to sponsor all of the roofing materials and labor for the grand prize home this year.
“We choose to sponsor the Really BIG Raffle not only because we support higher education, but also feel that the event is a benefit to our community,” Royce said. “Edge Home Roofing’s goal is to unite the community as a whole by bringing local businesses together. If we work together, we will make it together.”
North Idaho College Carpentry Instructor Dave McRae said that Edge Home Roofing’s contribution was not only in materials, but in the education of his students who use the Really BIG Raffle project as a learning laboratory for practical application of carpentry skills.
“Not only did Edge Home Roofing provide materials and labor, they really went the extra mile and brought each student up to demonstrate their best practices and were happy to answer any questions the students had,” McRae said.
In addition to Edge Home Roofing, the Really BIG Raffle is supported by more than 25 sponsors this year including title sponsor Greenstone Homes, and further major sponsors Stock Building Supply and Washington Trust Bank. All proceeds of the Really BIG Raffle support student and program needs at NIC.
Regional outlets are now selling tickets for NIC’s Really BIG Raffle drawing for a chance to win a brand new $250,000 Coeur d’Alene home; $20,000 car; $10,000 boat; $3,500 vacation package and $2,000 shopping spree. Only 5,000 raffle tickets will be sold prior to the July 11 drawing at $100 each.
This year’s home is a single-level, three-bedroom, two-bath with nearly 1,900 square feet of living area. The plan includes a vaulted living room with fireplace, an open kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite counters, master suite with jetted tub and a full unfinished basement. The home is under construction at 2748 Sorbonne Drive, Coeur d’Alene.
Tickets can be purchased at North Idaho outlets including Super 1 Foods, Trading Company Stores in Post Falls, Stein’s Family Foods, Stock Building Supply, Lake City Ford, the NIC Workforce Training Center and the NIC Foundation Office. Idaho residents can also order by phone or online.
