No charges filed against former student

The strong police presence on campus for the past several weeks was a result of information obtained from an off-campus incident in which a now former NIC student allegedly made threats toward NIC. Upon further investigation, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department informed NIC that this student had an outstanding warrant and decided to maintain a strong presence on campus as an added measure to ensure the safety and security of NIC students and employees. No charges have been filed against the former student and reports indicate that his warrant has been cleared up in Washington State.

For reasons unrelated to the off-campus incident, this student is no longer enrolled at NIC and has been trespassed from campus. If you see any trespassed student on campus, call 911 immediately. A link is available on the NIC Security website of all individuals trespassed from NIC by going to clicking “Overview,” and then clicking “Active Trespass Report.”
