NIC to hold open house celebration in Sandpoint Nov. 1

The public is invited to explore all that North Idaho College’s center at Sandpoint has to offer and take in a free choir concert Thursday, Nov. 1 at the regional center’s new home in the Sandpoint Events Center at 102 South Euclid Street.

The open house, which will feature a self-guided tour and light refreshments, will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. The choir concert featuring the NIC and Sandpoint High School choirs will be held in the center’s auditorium from 7 to 8 p.m.

Both the tour and the concert are free and open to the public.

NIC officials signed a five-year lease for the 8,000-square-foot property in May 2012, moving back to Sandpoint after being housed in the Bonner Mall in Ponderay since 2006. The new NIC at Sandpoint provides access to an auditorium that seats 450, a banquet room that holds 370 and a commercial kitchen. The move has also brought greater integration with Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho, which is now at home in the new center, and the Head Start readiness program that is located right across the street.
