NIC wrestling team ranked No. 1, Nov. 3 match canceled

The Cardinals open the 2012 season as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in the polls just released by the NJCAA. NIC returns six All-Americans and has nine wrestlers ranked in the top 8 in their respective weight class out of 10 weight classifications. NIC travels to Wyoming next week to face Western Wyoming College on Nov. 9 before competing in the Powell Open in Wyoming on Nov. 10.

The Nov. 3 North Idaho College wrestling match against Highline Community College has been canceled due to illness. The match will be rescheduled for another date this season, but tentative dates are unavailable at this time. Several athletes on the Highline wrestling roster were ill, which depleted the team roster for travel.

NIC opened the season with a split on the road this past weekend, defeating Montana State University - Northern 24-18, and losing a close match to University of Great Falls 17-15. NIC’s next scheduled home match in the Cardinal Duals on Nov. 17, and the following day in the HUB Open at the HUB Athletic Center in Liberty Lake, Wash.
