‘Footsteps' needs volunteers

All NIC clubs are asked to consider hosting an interactive exhibit during the “Footsteps: A Journey of Many” presentation this year March 5-7, 2013. Priority deadline for Submissions is Friday, Dec. 7. Return the proposal application to heather_erikson@nic.edu or by bringing it to the ASNIC office. If you need assistance with an idea or filling out your proposal, contact Erikson or a member of the Footsteps Committee.

Footsteps is an interactive event that highlights contemporary issues of social injustice. It is designed to introduce participants to oppression, privilege, and power, and to think about how one can influence the other. During Footsteps participation, participants are guided through a series of scenes that educate and challenge them to think more deeply about issues of oppression. The tour ends in a “Room of Hope,” where participants are provided with an opportunity to discuss their experiences and are connected with related resources (organizations or activities) in which to become involved. An example can be found here.
