Attempted attack near campus
From the Office of the President of North Idaho College
Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, and Colleagues:
I want to bring your attention to an incident that happened earlier this week near campus. The Coeur d’Alene Police Department has informed us that an attempted sexual assault took place in the area of W. Hubbard Ave and N. College Drive on Jan. 11 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Authorities tell us that a 21 year-old female reported to them that she was attacked by a male in that area as she walked to the bus stop area.
Neither the woman who reported the attack nor the alleged assailant are North Idaho College students, staff, or faculty. Additionally, the attack did not take place on our campus. However, in our efforts to keep all of us as fully informed as possible, I want you to be aware of this incident and to use caution and prudence at all times.
Coeur d’Alene Police are asking for our help in their investigation. If you or someone you know saw anything the night of Jan. 11, please contact them immediately at (208) 769-2320. A description of the alleged attacker, as reported is as follows: White male, approximately 5’9”, average build, approximately 35-40 years of age, blondish/red facial hair, mustache and “stubble,” wearing a brown Carhartt type jacket, gray beanie hat, and boots.
Please always be aware of your surroundings and call Campus Security at (208) 769-3310 if you feel the need to be escorted to your vehicle for any reason and please call 911 to report suspicious behavior or criminal activity.
Thanks for your attention in this matter and for all you do for North Idaho College and our community at large.
