NIC head volleyball coach Gregorak resigns
The North Idaho College Athletics Department announced that Head Volleyball Coach Kandice (Kelly) Gregorak has resigned from her position effective at the end of January 2013, due to family reasons.
Gregorak, who was married over the summer, will relocate to Montana to be closer to her husband’s work. Ty Gregorak is the defensive coordinator for the University of Montana football team. “
We are disappointed to lose a talented young coach like Kandice, but we understand her reasons for leaving," said NIC Athletics Director Al Williams. “She elevated the program to the No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA polls this past season and led NIC to back to back national volleyball tournament appearances for the first time in school history in her first season.”
NIC finished eighth in the nation with a record of 22-5 this past season, with a region runner-up finish. Gregorak led the Cardinals to the SWAC championship in 2011, and a ninth-place finish at the NJCAA nationals. In her two-year, career she guided NIC to a 47-15 record, two top-10 NJCAA tournament appearances and the team earned NJCAA Academic All-American honors.
NIC will begin an immediate search for a replacement. Assistant Coach Kelsey Stanley will assume responsibility of the program on an interim basis during the search. Applications for the position will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. Information on the position is available on the NIC website, at www.nic.edu/employment. For More Information
