NIC Theatre Department presents ‘The Robber Bridegroom'

The North Idaho College Theatre Department presents “The Robber Bridegroom” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 – 16 and Feb. 21 – 23, and 2 p.m. Feb. 17 and 24 in NIC’s Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center on NIC’s main campus. “The Robber Bridegroom” was written by Alfred Uhry and Robert Waldman, and adapted from the novella by Eudora Welty.

“The Robber Bridegroom” is an energetic, bawdy, bluegrass Southern fairy tale set in the 18th century. The robber, Jamie Lockhart, has his eyes on Rosamund, the daughter of the richest planter in the country. Everyone’s plans go awry due to a case of double-mistaken identity, with help from some bumbling henchmen and an evil stepmother.

The play is directed by Trigger Weddle with Max Mendez as musical director. It is choreographed by Brook Bassett. “The Robber Bridegroom” is presented with special arrangement through Music Theatre International.
The cast features NIC students from Coeur d’Alene Alyssa Maurer, Renei Yarrow, Duncan Menzies, Luthien Kelsick and Clyde Mooney. It also features Jesse Hampsch, from Rathdrum; Gustave Lester, from Caldwell; Diana Smith, from Melba, Idaho; Jamie Law, from Harrison; Alexis Field, from Hayden; and Todd Jasmin, among others.

The play is free and open to the public. It is not intended for young children or infants.
