North Idaho College is scheduled for its next comprehensive accreditation evaluation March 25-27. The evaluation will be conducted by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, one of six regional accrediting agencies approved by the U.S. Department of Education. NIC has been accredited by the commission since 1950 and its last full evaluation visit was in 2003. NIC’s most recent review by the commission was its Year One evaluation in spring 2011, under newly established standards. In August 2011, the NWCCU reaffirmed NIC’s accreditation.
The purpose of a comprehensive evaluation is to determine whether NIC’s programs and services meet standards for quality and effectiveness established by the commission. For more than a year, NIC has been in the process of self-study to address the commission’s criteria for evaluation. As part of this process, an evaluation team will visit NIC March 25 - 27, to gather evidence, review evidence, and make recommendations for improvements to the commission.
The team will be holding open forums for various audiences in the SUB Lake Coeur d’Alene Room on Tuesday, March 26.
From 1 to 1:45 p.m. staff members are invited to the forum.
From 2 to 2:45 p.m. students are invited to the forum.
From 3 to 3:45 p.m. faculty members are invited to the forum
There will be an exit meeting open to everyone on campus from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the SUB Blue Creek Room.
