It’s been nearly 20 years since about 100 people gathered on the soccer field at North Idaho College with tickets in hand to see if they had won the first house raffled off as a fundraiser benefiting local students. The Really BIG Raffle has now evolved into a community tradition of support with a huge base of participants, many of which have been taking a chance for a good cause every year since. With only 5,000 tickets sold each year, supporters find it hard to pass up a chance at the nearly $300,000 in prizes the college raffles each year. Tickets are on sale now for the drawing that will be held July 10 at NIC’s Fort Sherman Park.
“This event really brings out the best in our community and our supporters run the full range of age and income demographics in our area. We have students that purchase tickets who have just turned 18, retirees in their 90s, and everyone in between,” said event coordinator Kristen McFadden.
This year, the grand prize Coeur d’Alene home is located in the highly sought after neighborhood of Coeur d’Alene Place. It is a two-story home featuring a vaulted living room, main floor master bedroom suite and a large upstairs bonus room. Valued at $250,000, the home will be loaded with special upgrades for the 20th anniversary including custom Hickory cabinets, granite counter tops, a masonry gas fireplace, a fully landscaped and fenced lot, and a seven-person backyard hot tub.
Additional major prizes include a $20,000 car, a $10,000 boat, a $3,500 vacation and a $2,000 shopping spree. To encourage early participation, everyone who buys a ticket before May 31 will also be entered to win a 55” flat screen TV and a custom steel outdoor smoker.
Tickets are on sale now for the July 10 drawing at North Idaho community outlets including Super 1 Foods, Trading Company Stores, Steins Family Foods, Lake City Ford, Buck Knives, Stock Building Supply, the NIC Foundation office, and the NIC Workforce Training Center. Idaho residents may also order tickets at www.nic.edu/rbr or by phone at (208)769-3271.
