Changes regarding sick, vacation time

Employees will notice on their April 30 pay stub that sick and vacation time are now tracked in hours instead of days. The change is due to software requirements that all payroll be tracked in hours so NIC can convert to the electronic tracking of time through the MyNIC portal.

Sick and vacation from April 30, 2013 and forward will be reported in hours. For example, a balance of 10 sick days has been converted to 80 sick hours. (10 days x 8 hours = 80 hours). From May 1, 2013 and forward, please request and report your leave usage in hours instead of days.

More details will be released in the coming week with information on how exempt and nonexempt employees will earn and report sick and vacation time usage.
