North Idaho College Cardinal Shopping Spree winner Roger Stewart was able to grab $670 worth of food items at Super 1 Foods as part of the NIC Athletics Department fundraiser Thursday. He plans to donate much of his haul to families in need.
“This is the first time we’ve held this fundraiser and it was a huge success. We plan on bringing it back again next year with the support of Super 1 Foods,” said NIC Athletics Director Al Williams.
Stewart, of Coeur d’Alene, is an NIC alumn and longtime NIC Athletics booster. His lucky ticket was drawn earlier this year at the Region 18 NJCAA Basketball Tournament hosted at NIC.
Super 1 Foods in Coeur d’Alene donated the first $500 that Stewart was able to stuff in his cart, with the NIC Booster Club picking up the tab for the rest.
Stewart said he will donate the larger bulk items to St. Thomas Church in Coeur d’Alene. All of the proceeds from the drawing will benefit NIC Athletics.
