Former MeriStar vice president to speak at NIC booster luncheon

Steve Shamion, former college football player and executive vice president of MeriStar Hotels and Resorts, will be the main speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club’s luncheon at noon Tuesday, May 14 at the Coeur d’Alene Outback Steakhouse. Shamion, who played football at Rocky Mountain College and whose son plays football for the University of Idaho, will speak about the importance of boosters.

Shamion has 30 years of experience in corporate and operations management. He began his hotel career as a line-level employee and finished as executive vice president of MeriStar Hotels and Resorts (now Interstate Hotels and Resorts), which has over 200 properties and 30,000 employees. Shamion has earned honors such as the General Manager of the Year Award while overseeing the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center.

The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of the month at noon, typically alternating between the Outback Steakhouse and the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The public is welcome to attend. The cost of lunch is not covered.
