There are still a few slots open for the popular North Idaho College cooking classes “Cooking Around the World” and “Soups and Sauces” taught by NIC Culinary Arts instructors. These classes are intended to appeal to those who want to take a college-level class but aren’t necessarily seeking a degree. Each class is one college credit (NIC tuition and fees apply).
Soups and Sauces focuses on fundamental knife skills and basic food organization and preparation for the everyday cooking and techniques for preparing soups and sauces. A variety of sauces will be introduced including mother sauces, small sauces, clear soup, cream soup, chowders, purees and specialties. This class is offered at several different times on Mondays beginning Sept. 9.
Cooking Around the World focuses on international cuisines and is offered at several different times Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning Sept. 10. Students will learn to identify flavor combinations and cooking techniques from across the globe. Students should come hungry since they will enjoy their own creations upon completion of each recipe.
