NIC Sentinel named top newspaper by Society of Professional Journalists


Pictured is the staff at NIC’s The Sentinel student newspaper, which was recently honored with several awards by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Idaho Press Club.  

Staff members from North Idaho College’s The Sentinel newspaper were honored with several Mark of Excellence awards at the Society of Professional Journalists Region 10 recently, including Best All-Around Non-Daily Newspaper. SPJ's Region 10 comprises Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. All first-place award winners are eligible to compete in SPJ’s annual competition that culminates at its Sept. 4-6 convention in Nashville, Tenn. The Sentinel is a finalist in the newspaper category.

The Sentinel and its staff were also honored by the Idaho Press Club in the student division of its annual awards held in May.
