Whether you are a student or employee at NIC, you will encounter several online applications. Here is a brief explanation of what's what. . .

Blackboard is the online learning management system.

Use Blackboard for Internet, Hybrid, and Web-Enhanced classes.

Blackboard Mobile Learn is application for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

Use Blackboard Mobile Learn to access Internet, Hybrid, and Web-Enhanced course materials, discussions, announcements, and push notifications on a mobile device

To download the app: Search for Blackboard Learn in the Apple App Store or the Android Market.

Cardinal Mail is NIC's name for the student version of the Microsoft Outlook Live email application. All students receive a ACardinal Mail account once they’ve been accepted to NIC.

Use Cardinal Mail for all official NIC email correspondence. Some instructors may require the use of Cardinal Mail for class communication through Blackboard.

Concourse is a web-based syllabus creation and archival application.

Use Concourse when creating, editing, or searching for a course syllabus.

Instructors will find a link to Concourse on the Bb Home tab on Blackboard.
Students will find a link to their course syllabus in the course site on Blackboard or on their instructor's directory page.

The Directory lists NIC employee names, office locations, and phone numbers.

Use the Directory to update a class and office hour schedule, post links to course syllabi, and personal biographical information.

Administrative Assistants add employees to the Directory.
Instructors can update their Directory pages by using WebDriver (the web page editor detailed below).

Students will find a link to the Faculty & Staff Directory on the NIC website.

MyNIC is the campus intranet.

Use the MyNIC portal to enter/view mid-term and final grades, enter/view attendance verification, register for classes, view official class rosters, view your pay advice and other employee-related documents, view NIC news and events.

Use the NIC website to learn more about the college, services, programs, and outreach centers.

NIC Mobile is an application for both Android and the iOS operating system for Apple.

Use NIC Mobile to access campus maps, directory, courses list, Blackboard Mobile Learn, news, links to social networks, videos, photos, and emergency numbers with a link to school closures.

To download the app: seach for North Idaho College in the Apple App Store or the Android Market.

Outlook is a desktop application used to send and receive email through Microsoft Exchange, also known as Webmail.

Use Outlook/Exchange Mail/Webmail for all official NIC employee email correspondence. Some instructors may choose to use Outlook for class communication through Blackboard.

Microsoft Outlook is installed on all employee office computers by the NIC HelpDesk. Employees can purchase Microsoft Office for home use from the Mica Peak Exchange bookstore at a deeply discounted price. See bookstore for details. WebDriver is a webpage editor.

Those with access credentials granted by the NIC Marketing and Communications Office can use WebDriver to edit NIC webpages and to update Directory pages.

Use the Week’sWorth to stay up-to-date with what’s happening at NIC.
