Biography

Tony Ambrosetti has been an adjunct faculty member at North Idaho College for 22 years. After retiring from the US Navy, he moved to Post Falls in 1993. He and Victoria, his wife of 45 years, live in a cottage they built on a pine-covered hill overlooking the Spokane River valley.

Tony has three great devotions in life: his Catholic Faith; his family (he and his wife have four children and ten grandchildren); and this country. After 12 years of Franciscan Catholic education, he attended the University of Texas on a Navy scholarship, graduating with an officer’s commission and a BA in Government. His Navy duties were diverse: he taught fellow officers at the post-graduate level; served at sea throughout the Mediterranean, Equatorial West Africa, and the Caribbean; and traveled overseas extensively with his family. They lived for four years in Italy, and three years in Spain, while they explored Europe, North Africa, and Asia Minor. Upon retirement, Tony went back to college and was graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Idaho with BS degrees in Elementary and Secondary Education. He is also an alumnus of North Idaho College.

The descendant of four grandparents born in Italy, Tony is proud of his 100 percent Italian heritage. He is passionate about teaching what he calls “the most beautiful language in the world.” With his Division Chair’s encouragement, he pioneered the first fully online Modern Language course here at NIC. Additionally, he relishes sharing his love of his ancestral land in his Italian Culture course.
