Biography

Kathleen Miller Green, M.A.

I’ve spent the past 30+ years working with early childhood providers, students, educators, community agencies, and young children and their families as a teacher, mentor, and advocate. I worked for 12 years at the Rural Institute on Disabilities at the University of Montana as Project Coordinator for the nationally known Child Care plus+ project.  The focus of my work there was the full and meaningful inclusion of young children with disabilities into typical early childhood programs. I am a co-author of the inclusion curriculum, Child Care plus+ Curriculum on Inclusion (Redleaf Press, 1992) used for training early childhood providers in inclusive practice across the country.

In my 22 years in Idaho, I’ve been an IdahoSTARS trainer; a mentor/coach for the Mentors for Early Childhood Education (MECE) program; an Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ERS) assessor; and was one of the first people in Idaho to be certified through the National Training Institute for Child Care Health Consultants (NTICCHC) as a Child Care Health Consultant Trainer.

Since 2005, I’ve worked as a full-time instructor in Child Development at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. I am a member of the Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA), Common Read and General Education Matriculation (GEM) Review committees at NIC. I serve as the Child Care Health Consultant for the nationally accredited NIC Children’s Center and as the Child Development Associate (CDA) Professional Development Specialist for the college’s CDA credential Academic Certificate candidates. In Fall 2017, I start as a national reviewer for the new CDA Gold Standard Training Certification program.  In addition to teaching, advising, and committee duties for the college, I have served on the Governor-appointed Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP) Advisory Panel continuously since 2006; spent three years on the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children (IAEYC) Board; and spent three years as the Education/Conference Chair for the North Idaho AEYC Board.
