Biography

Jacalyn “Jacs” Marosi has been teaching American Sign Language (ASL) at North Idaho College for the majority of her career, beginning in 2005. She is a hearing bilingual professional who has a contagious passion for ASL, the Deaf Community, and introducing adult students to ASL and the Deaf Community.

One of the final projects for completing her Graduate Degree at University of Idaho in 2012 was establishing a complete Associate of Arts Program in ASL Studies at NIC. Since that time, the program has continued to grow and so has the faculty team.

Jacs is notorious for her energetic, quirky, and student-centered lectures that occur in the immersive classroom environment she creates. She’s a strong believer in the importance of the “ripple effect” and will continue to strive for a collective legacy regarding a shift in the perspective of mainstreamed society regarding the Deaf Community.

Outside of the classroom, Jacs enjoys spending time with friends and family (including the puppy) at restaurants and coffee shops. Some say that she’s addicted to specialty coffee and tea drinks, but she has claimed on numerous occasions that she can stop any time, but chooses not to.
