Public invited to Sgrecci art dedication at NIC Oct. 13
There will be a dedication and celebration of life for artist Patty Sgrecci at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the north lobby of Boswell Hall on North Idaho College’s main campus. Sgrecci’s “Carnival Dreams” mobile art was recently installed in Boswell Hall’s foyer and will be part of NIC’s permanent collection.
Sgrecci worked in mixed media and was a frequent guest artist at NIC. She used mobiles as a way to examine the mystery of movement. Her work echoes the gestures of nature in which a gust of wind sets the dance in motion. Her kinetic sculptures can be found in private, public and corporate art collections nationally.
In 2010, along with Mason McCuddin and NIC Art Instructor Donna Bain, Sgrecci created “Catch the Wind,” a colorful sculpture at the west entrance to Coeur d'Alene. Sgrecci passed away in June 2018 after moving to the East Coast to be closer to her family.
The event is free and open to the public.
