Some NWAC Softball Championship games delayed

North Idaho College and the Community Colleges of Spokane, in partnership with the Spokane Sports Commission, will host the Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Championship May 17-20 at Dwight Merkel Sports Complex at 5701 N. Assembly Street in Spokane.
The tournament will include 16 teams. North Idaho College is seeded No. 4 and will play No. 13 seed Southwestern Oregon CC in the first round at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, streamed live online. The defending NWAC champion Cardinals enter the tournament with a 33-9-1 record, ranked No. 2 in the NWAC latest poll after winning the 2019 East Region title. Seeding for the tournament are based on the ratings percentage index formula maintained by the NWAC, based on wins and losses and strength of schedule.
Live coverage of games on all four fields will be provided along with live stats of all games, brackets, and other information available at the NWAC website.
Games start at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19. The championship game starts at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20.
“We’re also proud to announce that North Idaho College was just awarded the bid to host the NWAC softball region championships in Spokane for the next three years as well,” said Al Williams, NIC athletic director. “This is a testament to the high quality tournament run the previous two years in partnership with the Spokane Sports Commission and the Community Colleges of Spokane. Next year, CCS will focus on hosting the NWAC Track and Field Championships, so NIC will assume the lead role with assistance from the Spokane Sports Commission and the NWAC East Region member schools. We are honored to be selected as the host institution and look forward to retaining and promoting quality women’s fast-pitch softball in our region.”
An adult four-day pass costs $35, or $25 with a student/senior/military ID. Single-day admission is $15 for adults, $8 for students/seniors/military, $6 for children ages 7-12, and free for children 6 and younger.
