Biography:


Jo completed PhD coursework in literature at the University of Minnesota and holds a Master’s degree in English from Idaho State University, where she wrote her thesis on cultural and racial identities in Jean Rhys’ Wide Sargasso Sea and Kate Chopin’s The Awakening. She has taught English at the college and high school levels for over twenty years and has been at NIC since 2010. Her academic interests include composition pedagogy, postcolonial theory, and American transnational studies. She is also an award-winning documentary photographer who exhibits regionally and nationally. Jo enjoys reading, knitting, camping, watching baseball, and traveling with her husband, two sons, and their three dogs.
