Each year, the NIC Alumni Association Board of Directors recognizes outstanding individuals who greatly enhance North Idaho College and the NIC Alumni Association through their commitment and service.
The Alumni Association Board is proud to honor Alexandra ‘Ali’ Shute as Alumna of the Year, David Foster as Honorary Alumnus and Darlene Barrier Caruso as Distinguished Alumna of the Year. The awards were announced at the 2023 Scholarship Celebration. Read more about the winners.

Award Categories
Created in 2001, the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is an award presented to North Idaho College alumni for a distinguished record of significant achievement in a chosen field of interest or profession. This most prestigious recognition is given to highly successful alumni who have developed a regional, national or international reputation. Individuals receiving this award serve as role models for the NIC Community. The purpose of this award is to bring recognition to recipients and honor the outstanding accomplishments of the alumni from North Idaho College.
Created in 1997, the Alumni of the Year Award is an award presented to NIC alumni who have provided an ongoing service to the Alumni Association and/or the college community with a significant contribution of time, talents and service. The purpose of this award is to bring recognition to the recipient and honor dedication and commitment to the Alumni Association and/or the college community.
The Honorary Alumnus Award was established to recognize outstanding individuals who, although not an alum of North Idaho College, greatly enhance the college and/or Alumni Association through their commitment and service. The purpose of this award is to bring recognition to the recipient and honor dedication and commitment to the Alumni Association and/or the college community.
