Head Start Eligibility

Am I eligible?

Children ages 3 or 4 before September 1 with low income, according to the Poverty Guidelines published by the Federal government, are eligible for Head Start and Early Head Start services

Children in foster care, homeless children and children from families receiving public assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, SNAP, or Supplemental Security Income) are also eligible for Head Start services regardless of income.

Head Start programs may enroll children from families that have incomes above the Poverty Guidelines  (Follow with poverty income levels chart)

For families/households with more than 8 persons, add $5,380 for each additional person

Everyone is encouraged to apply regardless of income.  A limited number of over income spots are available.

How do I apply?

Complete a Head Start interest form and a Family Advocate from the center located nearest your home will contact you to start an application for enrollment in North Idaho College Head Start.
