Set Up Your NIC Accounts

Step 1

Access Your MyNIC Account

MyNIC is your portal for all things NIC including where you update contact info, complete your financial aid files, pay tuition, register for classes and much more.

Get started

    1. Visit nic.edu/mynic.
    2. Select "New Students and Employees... Start Here."
    3. Enter the Student ID and click "Get My Username."
    4. Record the displayed username. The username is shown without @nic.edu. Use the full NIC email address (for example, jjdoe1@nic.edu) when signing in to NIC services.
    5. Click the Password Reset link.
    6. On the password reset page, the username will already be populated. Enter the 6-digit birthdate (MMDDYY) as the Current Password, create a new password, and click "Update."
    7. When the page refreshes, the password reset is complete.
    8. Close the Password Reset page and navigate to my.nic.edu.
    9. Sign in using the full NIC email address and the new password.

Step 2

Set Up Duo

Duo adds a second layer of security to your accounts through two-factor authentication. When accessing NIC systems, you will be prompted to accept a Duo push on your phone.

When logging in to MyNIC for the first time

    1. Select Next and choose Duo Mobile.
    2. Enter your phone number and continue.
    3. Download the Duo Mobile app on your phone.
    4. Open the Duo Mobile app and tap the “+” icon.
    5. Scan the QR code

Step 3

Access Your Cardinal Mail Account

All students receive an NIC email account once they’ve applied known as Cardinal Mail. All official communication from NIC will be sent to this account.

On your computer

    1. Log in to MyNIC.
    2. Click on the red Cardinal Mail title.

    On your phone

    1. Download the Outlook app.
    2. Enter your username@nic.edu and password when prompted.
