North Idaho College men’s soccer player Jairo Aguirre has signed to play with Corban University this fall. The Woodburn, Oregon native is currently a sophomore and a returning starter for the Cardinals. NIC began NWAC play March 31, opening with a home game against Columbia Basin College.
“Jairo plays end to end. He is a tireless competitor and consumes the game,” said NIC Head Men’s Soccer Coach Ken Thompson. “He is fire!”
As a high school senior, Aguirre was an OSAA 4A champion and tallied 20 goals and 17 assists on the year. As a senior, he was also honored as a First Team All-Conference selection. His junior and sophomore years of high school, he was a 5A soccer champion, a Second Team All-Conference selection and an Honorable Mention for those respective years.
Aguirre’s ambition on the field is matched in the classroom. He is majoring in education at North Idaho College and says he aspires to be an English and Spanish teacher, coach, and writer.
