A North Idaho College student in the journalism and photography program won two awards this academic year for excellence in journalism reporting for the college’s student newspaper, the NIC Sentinel.

Hannah Neff was awarded first place for a light feature in the student category in the Idaho Press Club’s Best of 2020 competition and finalist in the Society of Professional Journalists Region 10 2020 Mark of Excellence for feature writing (small).

Neff’s award-winning story in each competition was “Who done it? Mysterious posters appear in Boswell.” The story covers a case of prank playing between staff and faculty in the Fine Arts and Communication Division and can be viewed at NIC Sentinel.

Neff has been writing for the NIC Sentinel for two years and is currently the managing editor. She enjoys writing features, photography, and interviewing NIC students, staff and faculty.

“I love getting to tell stories of the college and everything that is happening on campus,” Neff said. “NIC has a very vibrant community and it’s so fun being a part of that.”
