North Idaho College Athletics Director, Bobby Lee, announced that Chase Clasen will be the Cardinals’ new assistant wrestling coach.
“In a very competitive application process, Chase rose to the top and we are very fortunate that he is joining the Cardinal family,” Lee said. “The respect he has earned in the northwest wrestling community as a recruiter and coach will be a great asset for our program.”
Clasen, a Moses Lake, Washington native, placed three times at the state wrestling tournament, and was a two-time Tri-State placer. Following his high school career, he wrestled for Iowa Western Community college where he received an associate degree in social science. He then transferred to NCAA DII Chadron State College in Nebraska to compete on their wrestling team.
During his time at Chadron, Clasen was a two-time national qualifier, a two-time conference finalist (one of those times a conference champion), and he was dubbed both an NCAA Wrestling All-American and an Academic All-American his senior year. After earning his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, Clasen spent a season as the graduate assistant coach at Chadron. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in organizational leadership.
