Author Laura Godfrey to speak at NIC writing event

The North Idaho College Writing Center Visiting Writers Series will host Laura Godfrey, author of “A Year of Real and Literary Birds.”
The reading and discussion will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the at the NIC Writing Center in the Lee Hall Annex on NIC’s Coeur d’Alene campus.
The event is free and open to the public.
The event will feature her book “A Year of Real and Literary Birds,” which uses a blend of ecocriticism, animal studies, close reading, and the techniques of creative nonfiction to unpack the ways that authors and ornithologists have tried to bridge the gap between human and nonhuman worlds.
Godfrey is an associate professor of English at North Idaho College and received her Ph.D. in American Literature from Washington State University. Her academic and personal essays have appeared in Western American Literature, The Hemingway Review and Arizona Quarterly.
