North Idaho College will host seminars with Buddhist nuns on exploring kindness on April 8 and 9 at NIC’s Coeur d’Alene campus.
Both talks are free, open to the public and hosted by the NIC Common Read Committee.
“Bridge Over Troubled Waters” will be presented by Buddhist nun Venerable Thubten Chonyi from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, in the Lake Coeur d’Alene Room of the Edminster Student Union Building. Chonyi’s talk will cover ways to bridge the political and philosophical divides that have strained America. Promoting basic human kindness is a great place to start, according to ancient teachings and modern science.
“Connecting Through Kindness” will be presented by venerables Thubten Dekyi and Thubten Monlam From noon to 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in the Driftwood Bay Room of the Edminster Student Union Building. The discussion will explore how to connect to others through kindness, curiosity, and an open heart to strengthen community and increase well-being. Refreshments will be provided at this event.
