North Idaho College will host commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, May 15, at the Schuler Performing Arts Center in Boswell Hall featuring NIC Mathematics Professor Jason Droesch as commencement speaker.
Droesch has served as a mathematics professor at North Idaho College since 2013, where he teaches a wide range of courses supporting both transfer and career and technical education students. In recent years, he has focused on adopting inquiry-based learning strategies to help students develop deeper conceptual understanding and confidence as independent mathematical thinkers.
From 2016 to 2022, Droesch served as division chair for the Math, Computer Science, and Engineering Division, where he helped establish the Math Education Center and expand the computer science partnership with the University of Idaho.
Droesch, a graduate of North Idaho College, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Idaho and a Master of Science degree in mathematics from Boise State University.
All employees and students not attending the ceremony are invited to line Garden Avenue between the Edminster Student Union Building and Boswell Hall at 9:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to cheer on the graduate candidates as they walk past.
Leo's Photography will sell portraits of students taken during the ceremony at leosphotography.com using the online code GRA228735. NIC will also provide select commencement photos for free on its Flickr page at flickr.com/photos/northidahocollege/albums/.
