Posted: Tuesday, Feb 18, 2025

North Idaho College will host its annual Women at Work event from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at the NIC Parker Technical Education Center in Rathdrum.
The event is free and open to the public and is designed to introduce women to career and technical education programs offered at NIC.
Participants will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers in local industries who will share their experiences working in traditionally male-dominated fields. The event will also include tours of the Parker Technical Education Center, lab demonstrations, and opportunities to meet and talk with program instructors.
Additional highlights include free food and beverages, family-friendly activities, and information about in-demand careers and how NIC’s programs can help women enter the workforce with valuable skills.
“This event is really special because it shows the women in our community that they are more than capable of becoming skilled welders, cybersecurity analysts, graphic designers and more,” NIC Marketing and Events Coordinator Elli Michael said.
According to the Idaho Department of Labor, women have accounted for 54% of Idaho’s labor force growth over the past five years. NIC’s CTE programs aim to support women in gaining the skills needed to excel in these growing career fields.
“We really want to bring together women in local industries who have been successful in their fields and show others how much opportunity there is by graduating from these programs and going into these careers,” Michael said.
