North Idaho College men’s basketball players visited Fernan STEM Academy for a basketball skills showcase on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The team performed dunks and shooting drills at the elementary school and spoke to students about maintaining an active lifestyle.

“We’re always excited to get our athletes out into the community,” NIC Director of Athletics and Recreation Shawn Noel said. “Skills showcases like this one are a great opportunity to talk to kids about being active and give them something to aspire to.”

The visit is part of NIC Athletics’ ongoing community engagement efforts, and the men’s and women’s basketball teams are scheduled to visit more area schools throughout the year.

NIC men’s basketball hosts Green River College at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Christianson Gymnasium for the first home game of the season. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and free for veterans, NIC students and children under 12.
