Poet Mery Smith to visit NIC
Posted: Wednesday, Sep 25, 2024The North Idaho College Writing Center’s visiting writer series is set to host the 2024 Spokane Poet Laureate Mery Smith.
The reading starts at noon Monday, Sept. 30 at the Writing Center in the Lee Hall Annex at NIC’s Coeur d’Alene campus.
The event is free and open to the public.
Smith said she aims to facilitate workshops in schools and communities of all folks while writing in places people don't normally imagine poetry being.
Her work can be found online at Pictures of Poets, In the Neighborhood, and in the anthologies “Listen to Your Mother” and “Pivot and Pause.” Her poetry was featured in the publication The Comet and she has published one chapbook titled “Crumbs.”
