Counseling Services Check-In Information

Welcome to Counseling Services

Use the following information to help you check in and prepare for your appointment.

 Do you have a scheduled appointment?

Click the Check-In button to log in to your Medicat Student Portal. Once logged in, you will:

  • Check in to your appointment
  • Complete the required form(s)
  • Click Submit when finished

Your counselor will then be notified that you have arrived and are ready for your appointment.

 If you experience any issues:

  • Speak with an employee at the front desk
  • For virtual appointments, call (208) 769-5947

What to expect at your appointment

Before your appointment

  • Arrive 15 minutes early for your session to check in and complete required paperwork
  • Complete all required forms honestly and thoroughly
  • Silence your phone during your appointment
  • Notify Counseling Services as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule

Confidentiality

Counseling sessions are private and confidential. Information shared during counseling will not be released without written permission except in situations required by law, including:

  • Imminent risk of harm to yourself or others
  • Abuse or neglect reporting requirements
  • Court orders or other legal obligations

Crisis and emergency support

Counseling Services is not a 24/7 emergency service.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are in immediate danger:

  • Call 911
  • Go to the nearest emergency room
  • Contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988
  • Contact the North Idaho Crisis Center (Open 24/7): (208) 625-4884

Attendance and late arrival policy

Regular attendance helps support the counseling process. Appointments may need to be shortened or rescheduled due to late arrivals out of respect for other scheduled appointments.


Accessibility and accommodations

Let staff know if accommodations to access counseling services are needed. Staff are committed to providing accessible support for all students.


Telehealth appointments

For virtual appointments:

  • Join from a private, quiet location whenever possible
  • Ensure your device is charged and your internet connection is stable
  • Use headphones if needed for additional privacy
