The North Idaho College Communications and Marketing Department manages all internal and external communications to ensure clear, consistent messaging that aligns with the college’s mission and values. The department oversees media relations, serving as the official liaison between NIC and news organizations. The Chief Communications and Government Relations Officer, along with the President, act as the primary spokespersons for significant or sensitive matters, ensuring that all media inquiries and crisis communications are handled strategically and in accordance with NIC’s protocols.
In addition to media relations, the department coordinates internal communications for both employees and students. Official college-wide messages must be approved and distributed through Communications and Marketing to maintain consistency and effectiveness. This includes employee communications via the NICNow digital newsletter and student messages that reach the entire student body. The department also manages public records requests, ensuring compliance with Idaho’s Public Records Law.
The department also oversees NIC’s official social media and podcasting channels, ensuring adherence to branding, privacy, and ethical standards. Any new social media or podcast initiatives must be reviewed and approved by Communications and Marketing, and all accounts must reflect the professionalism and integrity of the college. The team maintains NIC’s institutional channels while supporting departments, student organizations, and athletic teams in creating targeted content that aligns with college policies.
Additionally, Communications and Marketing manages the college’s bulletin boards and branding efforts, ensuring that all public postings align with NIC’s communication strategy. The department plays a vital role in maintaining NIC’s visual and verbal identity across all platforms, reinforcing a cohesive and professional brand image for the college community.
