3+3 Law Degree: NIC + UI

An articulation agreement between North Idaho College and the University of Idaho offers a pathway for students pursuing law school at the University of Idaho to be approved for admission after three years of undergraduate coursework.

Using this plan, students can earn an associate degree from NIC, a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho and a law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law.

Before pursuing the College of Law 3+3 program, speak with an NIC advisor to develop a personalized program plan.

Year 1 and 2 at North Idaho College

Year 1: Work toward an NIC philosophy degree

During the first year at NIC, students should follow the NIC/University of Idaho pathway and work toward earning an Associate of Arts in Philosophy. Students should meet with their advisor to make sure they are taking applicable courses.

Year 2: Application and preparation

In late fall or early spring of the second year, students should apply to the University of Idaho. After applying, students must express interest by submitting a 3+3 Program Registration Form to the University of Idaho College of Law Admissions Office by May 15.

Students must take the Law School Admission Test in June of the student’s sophomore year or in September of the student’s junior year.

Years 3 and 4 at the University of Idaho

Year 3: Begin law school preparation

Students must apply for the University of Idaho College of Law with their Law School Admission Test score by Jan. 15 of their junior year.

Students will continue their undergraduate coursework to complete their bachelor’s degree while working closely with advisors to ensure they meet both their undergraduate and law school requirements. Students will take 20 credits of first-year law-related courses that will count toward their bachelor’s degree.

Year 4: Law school coursework

In the fourth year, students will be required to complete 30 Law School credits and coordinate with academic advisors and the College of Law to ensure all degree requirements are met.
