Dental Assistant

Dental Assistant Program- In-person and Apprenticeship

Dental Assistant Apprenticeship

This is a competency-based apprenticeship for those currently working in a dental practice who wish to become Dental Assistants. Students in the Metro Coeur d'Alene area can attend this class in-person. For students outside of the greater Coeur d'Alene area, you can attend live classes and in-class demonstrations via Zoom. Online attendance must be arranged in advance. When registering, you must include a Dental Hygienist or Dentist who will be the Clinical Preceptor. The Clinical Preceptor will work closely with our instructors to guide students in meeting the Clinical Competencies of the Apprenticeship. There are limited seats available.

Dental Assistant Program (In-person)

Choose an exciting and challenging career in dental assisting. You will gain essential skills to enter the dental assisting profession through a competency-based learning approach. This course is for in-person students at our Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene campuses who have little to no background working in a dental practice. Geared for students who live in the Greater Coeur d'Alene metro area and can attend class in person. This program will prepare you to sit for the American Medical Technologists (AMT) registered dental assistant (RDA) certification exam and lead to an externship at area dental clinics. Classes meet in the evening every Tuesday and Thursday. There will be occasional Friday's for Lab work.

Once your application has been accepted and reviewed, you will be notified of the status of your application. Proof of High School Diploma, GED, or letter from a high school counselor verifying student is on track toward graduating will be required. Funding options are available.

Please note that you can begin a Nelnet payment plan before acceptance into the Dental Assistant program.  Please know that creating a payment plan does not guarantee you a spot in the program.  If you are accepted into the program, please get in touch with Customer Service at 769-3214 to get registered.  If you are not accepted, you must call Customer Service to cancel your payment plan and arrange for a refund of the amount you have paid.  Please note that the $50 registration fee will not be refunded.  Also, be aware that your refund could take up to 4 weeks to arrive after it has been requested.
