Approximately mid-semester, the NIC Automotive Technology program accepts viable, live-work requests for specific, vehicle-related subjects/repairs.
Subject Areas
The Automotive Technology program does not rebuild engines and transmissions for customers.
- CV axles, driveline and U-joints
- 4-wheel and all-wheel drive systems
- Manual transmissions (clutches and axles)
- Battery, starting and charging system testing
- Electrical lighting and accessories diagnosis
- Heating and air conditioning (HVAC) service and diagnosis
We typically schedule drop-off dates starting the first week of September.
- Minor engine repair (belts, hoses and cooling systems)
- Automatic transmission diagnosis and service
- Drivetrain, C/V axles, 4x4, and U-joints
- Brakes, steering and suspension repair and service
- Engine performance (tune-ups, fuel system, check engine light)
- Heating and air conditioning (HVAC) service and diagnosis
We typically schedule drop-off dates starting the first week of March.
Fees
Lab fees range from $25 - $100, plus parts. We do not allow customers to supply their own parts.
Any profit generated goes into the student scholarship fund or toward equipment purchases.
