Pharmacy Technician Training Program

Launch Your Career in a High‑Demand Healthcare Field

Begin a rewarding path in the rapidly growing pharmacy profession. North Idaho College’s 13‑week Pharmacy Technician program—approved by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)—provides the knowledge, skills, and real‑world experience needed to prepare for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) exam.

Through a blend of classroom instruction, online coursework, and 128 hours of hands‑on training in a local pharmacy, students gain the confidence and practical abilities required to support pharmacists in retail, hospital, and clinical environments.

Program Prerequisites

  • Unique Email Address: Required for registration.
  • Computer & Internet Access: A computer with reliable high‑speed internet is necessary. Chromebooks and cell phones are not compatible with the online coursework.
  • Age Requirement: Students must be 18 years or older.

Course Format & Location

This is a hybrid program based at the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center in Post Falls, Idaho. Students meet twice weekly for in‑person instruction and hands‑on skill practice, with additional assignments completed online through the Canvas learning platform.

Live online attendance option

Students located outside the greater Coeur d’Alene area may participate fully online with live Zoom instruction, pending prior approval. To request this option, contact the Health Careers team at WTC_HealthCareers@nic.edu or call 208‑769‑3497.

Optional Internship Opportunity

Students may choose to participate in an additional 130‑hour internship or externship at local pharmacies or hospitals for an added cost—an excellent way to gain even more real‑world experience.
